The Mayan Crystal Skulls

Included in this post is an article which I have reproduced as I think it is a very interesting article that backs up some other research that I have been doing on Starbrary and Lemurian / Atlantean quartz crystals, which I will write an article on in the future. The difference between Starbraries and Lemurian Seed / Atlantean Record Keeper crystals is that it is the belief that Starbraries are completely natural Quartz formations that have been encoded “remotely” by various, distant Star Systems throughout the Universe and contain glyph like markings, whilst Lemurians / Atlantean crystals are forms of quartz crystals that are believed to contain the records of lost civilizations from our world. Choosing to agree with these beliefs is a personal choice but I myself have found that these crystals have a very powerful energy, different from other crystals that I work with, one that can be felt by simply holding the crystal in your hand.

crystal skull

Present-day technology cannot explain how the Mayan crystal skulls were produced”.

On 1 January, 1924, Canadian Anna Mitchell Hedges discovered a crystal skull beneath an alter in a pyramid temple in the lost Mayan city of Lubaantun (meaning the city of the fallen stones in the Mayan language).

The skull was the same size as a genuine human skull and consists entirely of transparent quartz. The anatomically completely accurate skull, with its separate mobile lower jaw was carved from one whole piece of quartz crystal.

Anna Mitchell Hedges wished to discover who made the skull, and when, and gave it to the world-renowned company Hewlett-Packard for testing. Since the crystal contained no carbon, scientists were unable to perform radio-carbon dating, but used different techniques to try to establish when the skull had been made, and using which methods.

  1. The skull was made from quartz crystal, used in present-day electronic industry: A team of scientists revealed that the skull has been made out of a form of quartz known as piezoelectric silicon dioxide, used in the current telecommunications sector and with a higher memory capacity than other. Latest micro-processors are made from the same substance. Even more striking, however, is the fact that this form of crystal was only discovered in the 19th century.
  2. The crystal skull has the ability to produce its own electricity: This crystal, piezoelectric silicon dioxide, is both negative and positively polarized. This means that, as with batteries, it is able to produce its own electricity.
  3. The skull was produced from a single block of crystal: Scientists used a series of polarized test lights to establish that the skull and the lower jaw were made from the same block of crystal rock. Considering that quartz crystal is softer and more brittle than diamond, the fact the skull was carved from a single piece of crystal, which is almost impossible, amazed scientists.
  4. No signs of any tools were discovered on the skull: The scientists decided to examine the skull under a microscope to determine whether any tools had been used in its manufacture. They were amazed to find no signs that modern automatic equipment or mechanical tools had been used in the crystal skull’s manufacture. Crystal rock is very brittle and friable, and it would have fallen apart had any tools been used during the carving. Because modern manufacturing tools would immediately break it because of their heat and vibrations. Hewlett-Packard concluded that it was impossible to produce such a delicate and fine component as the lower jaw, from a single piece of crystal, even using modern diamond-tipped electrical equipment, without shattering it. This led one of the team of scientists to say, “this skull shouldn’t even exist” and resulted in a number of other observers also speculating that the skull might not be human in origin. Following these tests, the crystal skull was interpreted as having been made by hand.
  5. Had the crystal skull been carved by hand, it would have taken around 300 years, and several generations to have its present shape: The scientists calculated that it would have taken several generations to carve the skull, using no tools apart from rubbing at it with a piece of diamond. According to the Hewlett-Packard report, it would have taken some 300 years to shape the skull by abrading it by hand.
  6. There are no cracks in the crystal skull, despite its being carved in total violation of the laws of physics: Present-day crystals are carved around their axes. Because crystals have a molecular symmetry. In order not to break the crystal, it has to be cut in line with that natural structure, its molecular symmetry, in other words. Even if lasers of high-tech cutting techniques are used, crystals will still shatter if not cut along their natural axes. But even though this crystal skull was cut in a manner totally independent of its axis, no fracturing or cracking arose, in complete violation of the laws of physics.
  7. Scientists were astonished by the crystal skull’s optical design: As a result of the Hewlett-Packard tests, scientists realized that the skull had interesting optical properties. Light applied from beneath the skull should normally be refracted in all directions, but in this skull it forms a channel focusing on the eye sockets and emerging from these.
  8. The prism inside the crystal skull concentrates an image of the area in the eyes: There is a kind of prism in the lower, rear part of the skull. Light striking the eye sockets is reflected from here. Therefore, if you look directly into the sockets you see that the whole room is reflected inside the eyes of the crystal skull.

Structures that present-day technology still struggles to account for, such as Stonehenge in England, constructed 8,000 years ago, the Egyptian pyramids, the T-shaped animal motifs carved 11,000 years ago on Gobekli Tepe in Urfa, Turkey and the 10-ton Sun gate carved from a single rock, prove that people in ancient times were not primitive and lacking any comprehension of art, science and technology, as is sometimes claimed. Evolutionists have attempted to apply the same perverse, evolutionary logic they sought to apply to such branches of science as biology, palaeontology, zoology, entomology and botany to archaeology, as well. But the historical artefacts that emerge into the light of day scientifically refute the evolutionist claim that ape-like beings gradually developed into modern man.

Carnelian

Carnelian (a 16th century corruption of ‘cornelian’) is a variety of chalcedony, a mineral of the quartz family, coloured orange by impurities of iron oxide. Its name is thought to be derived from two sources, the ‘cornel cherry’ whose translucent red fruit resemble the stone, and the latin word ‘carnis’ meaning flesh.

Carnelian is best known for its translucent bright orange or red-orange colour, though it can vary in shade from a pale pink-orange through to a reddish brown. Some stones are solid in colour, some are flecked and some stones show beautiful banding. Most of the best carnelian stone is mined from India, though deposits are also found in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Britain, Iceland, and Peru.

carnelian tumblestones

Carnelian has a long history, and is one of the oldest known gemstones in legend. It was mentioned in the Bible as one of the twelve gemstones that featured on the breast plate of Aaron, the High Priest of the Israelites, signifying the blood of the martyrs. In Roman times it was used to make signet rings and for imprinting a seal on letters or important documents. The ancient Greeks and Babylonians saw Carnelian as a talisman of good luck. The ancient Egyptians revered Carnelian, referring to it as ‘the setting sun’. They identified orange hued stones with the fertile menstrual blood of the mother goddess Isis, and female energies. Red to brown hued versions were considered active male energy stones. It was worn by master architects to show their rank of builder and to guard against falling masonry and accidents. The Egyptians believed that Carnelian assisted the soul on its journey and had protective powers in the afterlife. In the Middle Ages, alchemists used Carnelian as a boiling stone to activate the energies of other chalcedonies, and it was once believed to prevent the Plague. Today, when carnelian is placed around the home, it is thought to protect against fire, storm, theft and accidents.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is a rock composed mostly of Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite. It is deep blue with gold flecks from the pyrite and white streaks from the calcite. The more prized Lapis is that which has more intense blue, whereas lower grade Lapis is slightly paler blue with more white than gold flecks, and is referred to as Denim Lapis. Its name comes from the Persian word ‘lazhuward’ meaning ‘blue’.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli has been used by healers, priests and even royalty since ancient times, to bring wisdom and power and for ability to develop psychic abilities .

tutankhamun's mask

Lapis Lazuli was mined in Afghanistan as early as 3000 BC. Through trade, Afghanistan was the source of Lapis for the ancient Egyptians and later the Greeks and Romans. This prized stone was used by the Pharaohs and used around the eyes and for the eyebrows on the well known funeral mask of the Pharaoh King Tutankhamun, and beautiful amulets made from the stone were discovered in his tomb.

tutankhamun's scarab amulet

Lapis Lazuli began to be exported to Europe towards the end of the middle ages for the valuable ultramarine dye obtained by grinding it into powder. Ultramarine was the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments and was used in the paintings of some of the most renowned artists of the Renaissance and Baroque eras.

High grade Lapis Lazuli is becoming harder to find as many of the best deposits have already been mined. Whilst some mines have been found in Chile, Italy, Russia and the USA, some of the best Lapis comes from the ancient mine in Afghanistan.

Lapis Lazuli harmonises the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of the body. Imbalances between these planes can lead to dis-ease, a sense of lack of purpose and depression. Once harmony is restored, it brings about multi dimensional cellular healing and a deep inner self knowledge. It echoes the vibrations of truth and enlightenment, representing the universal truth.

Lapis Lazuli is related primarily to the brow chakra, opening the third and balancing the energies of the throat chakra, the voice of the body.

Citrine

What is citrine?

Citrine is a variety of quartz that ranges in colour from a pale yellow through to a smokey brown, sometimes it contains rainbows and has a shimmer or sparkle to it. Natural citrine is relatively hard to come by, most of the citrine on the market is in fact heat treated amethyst. A way to tell the difference is that natural citrine is usually a pale honey or straw colour, if it is heat treated amethyst, the yellow colour will be most concentrated at the tip but white at the bottom. Heating the stone doesn’t change its molecular structure, i.e. it is still Si0₂, however the colour is changed from the violet to the yellow frequency and so it resonates a different vibrational frequency or energy. A point to note also it that citrine fades in sunlight. It is thought that paler shades of the natural stone govern the physical body whereas darker shades connect with the subtle spiritual bodies.

citrine (heat-treated)

This citrine point is likely heat-treated amethyst – note the deeply coloured point in contrast to the white base.

A powerful cleanser

Citrine is a powerful cleanser and re-generator that carries the power of the sun. Natural citrine is one of the two crystals that never requires clearing or cleansing (the other is kyanite) as it transmutes, dissipates, and grounds negative energy rather than accumulating it.

The stone of abundance

Citrine is commonly referred to as the ‘merchant’s stone’, ‘abundance stone’ or ‘success stone’ due to its said ability to manifest abundance and success in many aspects, particularly financially and in business and commerce. Citrine helps to stimulate creativity and imagination, assisting the manifestation of hopes and dreams. In Feng Shui, citrine would be placed in the wealth corner of your home or business premises (far left corner from the front door to the building or room). Try placing some inside your cash box or a small piece in your purse to both acquire and maintain wealth.

Physically

Citrine has a warming, energising and recharging effect, imparting energy, invigorating the physical body and increasing stamina and circulation. It is a valuable stone for those who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia. It is thought to aid in reversing degenerative disease and as such would be a recommended stone for anyone suffering from alzheimers. It also is thought to have benefits on the nervous system and in fortifying the nerves.

Citrine is said to be excellent for the liver, spleen, gall bladder and stimulating the digestive system. Thought to inhibit infection in the kidney and bladder, this stone may also prove useful in the treatment of bed wetting. As an eliminating stone, it may help with removing toxins, relieving constipation and is also said to help combat cellulite.

Supporting the endocrine system, it may assist in regulation of the activity of cells, organs and hormones, such as balancing the thyroid and encouraging proper metabolism. It helps maintain healthy skin, nails, and hair and may alleviate skin irritations and allergies. When taken as an elixir, citrine can help with hormone imbalances and relieve menstrual and menopausal symptoms.

Citrine can also be helpful for sleep disturbances or when suffering nightmares.

Mentally and Emotionally

Citrine is a happy stone. Not only does it remove negative energies and emotions, it replaces them with positive ones. It is particularly useful for people who are sensitive to environmental and other outside influences. An excellent stone to relieve depression, self-doubt, self criticism, anger, self destructive tendencies and phobias as citrine raises self esteem, self confidence and self worth. It assists in letting go of the past and moving forwards without the fear of being judged by others, assisting in being able to verbalise thoughts and feelings and bringing a confident and optimistic outlook to the future. Citrine is useful in settling and smoothing disharmony and disputes within family or groups.

citrine tumblestone

Spiritually

Citrine acts to open, cleanse and energize the chakras, particularly the solar plexus and navel chakras. In cleansing and balancing the subtle bodies, it realigns them with the physical body. Activates crown chakra and opens the intuition. Known for its ability to protect the aura by clearing negative energy and influences, it is useful in psychic and spiritual development.

In activating the solar plexus, it clears and magnifies personal energy, opening up the intuitive mind and helping with decisiveness. This focused intent and inner strength assists with manifesting what you want in life on the physical, emotional and material planes.

How to use

Try wearing around the finger, throat or in contact with the skin or placing in the wealth corner of your home as described earlier. Alternatively, use as an elixir.

Making a Crystal Elixir

What are crystal elixirs?

Crystal elixirs are an excellent way to utilise the the healing properties and powers of crystals. They have a subtle and gentle effect and allow the flexibility to combine more than one crystal, providing they are compatible. Crystal or gem elixirs may also be referred to as essences, waters, tonics, or remedies, but they are all the same thing, water infused with crystal energy.

There are a number of ways of using a crystal elixir, it can be rubbed onto the skin, applied to the chakra or pulse points, added to water and sipped, administered from a dropper under the tongue, added to your bathwater or sprayed around a room. Many practitioners recommend it be taken under the tongue so that it is absorbed directly without having to be dissipated via the digestive system, however the method of administration depends largely on the reason of use and it is also a matter of personal preference.

How do they work?

All crystals carry their own unique vibrations and healing properties. When a crystal is placed in water, the water becomes infused with minute concentrations of the minerals constituents along with the energy and vibrations of the crystal. When the elixir is administered, these properties are then transferred to our physical and subtle bodies.

How to make a crystal elixir

Making a crystal elixir is relatively easy to do, though it is extremely important to have a sound knowledge of the crystals that you intend to use as some crystals are water soluble and some are even toxic. Minerals which contain toxic compounds such as copper, lead or mercury allow trace amounts to leach into the water and therefore should only be used with the ‘indirect method’ (explained below). If you are unsure, always research first, use crystals from the quartz family (non-toxic and non-porous), use the indirect method, or seek professional advice.

There are two main methods of making crystal elixirs, the ‘direct method’ and the ‘indirect method’. In the direct method the crystal is placed directly in the water, whereas in the indirect method the elixir water is separated from the crystal by a barrier.

The direct method (always check stones used are non-toxic and non-porous)

  1. Choose your crystal(s) and make sure they are washed and energetically cleansed.
  2. Place the crystal(s) in a clear glass bowl and cover with spring water or filtered water.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clear glass plate, or if not use cling film.
  4. Stand the bowl in sunlight for a few hours. Some people recommend up to 12 hours daylight, others recommend 24 hours to benefit from sunlight and moonlight.
  5. To enhance the effect and amplify the energies you can place clear quartz points around the bowl with their points facing in towards the bowl.
  6. Remove the crystals with a spoon and pour the charged water (also referred to as the mother essence) into a glass bottle. A dark bottle (dark brown or blue) is recommended as it it thought to preserve the vibrations better but beware of using coloured bottles as each colour carries its own vibrations (see my page ‘Colour Therapy’).
  7. Add an equal amount of alcohol such as vodka, brandy or cider vinegar to preserve the elixir (so that 50% of the elixir is the mother essence and 50% is alcohol), particularly if you plan on storing it for more than a week. Seal the bottle, date and name.
  8. A small amount of the elixir can then be decanted into a smaller dropper bottle (again use dark glass) for use.

Amethyst in glass bowl

Amethyst elixir preparation – Direct Method

Crystal water can also be made using this method by placing a non-toxic and non-porous crystal into a glass (clear quartz or rose quartz are good examples), leaving to stand for a few hours or overnight, and then sipping it throughout the day. This water can also be used to spray or dab onto skin conditions such as eczema where you wouldn’t want the alcohol content.

If making a spray, add 7 drops of the mother remedy to pure water to use immediately. If storing for longer use, add some vodka to preserve. The spray can then be used to clear negative energies from a room or around you to cleanse your aura.

The indirect method (for toxic or porous crystals)

  1. Choose your crystal(s) and make sure that they are washed and energetically cleansed.
  2. Place the crystal(s) in a small clear glass bowl or drinking glass and then place the bowl or glass in a larger clear glass bowl.
  3. Fill the large glass bowl with spring water or filtered water so that the level of water is above the crystals in the smaller inner bowl, but below the rim of the small bowl or glass.
  4. The vibrations of the crystal are transferred to the water without allowing its mineral contents, and any toxicity to leach into the water.
  5. Cover the bowl with a clear glass plate, or if not use cling film.
  6. Stand the bowl in sunlight for a few hours. Some people recommend up to 12 hours daylight, others recommend 24 hours to benefit from sunlight and moonlight.
  7. Again, to enhance the effect and amplify the energies you can place clear quartz points around the bowl with their points facing in towards the bowl.
  8. Remove the small bowl / glass and then pour the charged water (mother essence) from the larger bowl into a dark glass bottle as described earlier.
  9. Add an equal amount of alcohol such as vodka or brandy, or cider vinegar, to preserve the essence, particularly if you plan on storing it for more than a week. Seal the bottle, date and name.
  10. As before, a small amount of the finished elixir can then be decanted into a smaller dropper bottle (again use dark glass) for use.

Dosage recommendations

Always go on your own experience as some crystal remedies can be very powerful and you can adjust your dosage accordingly but as a basic guide:

  • 3-4 drops in a small glass of water 3-4 times a day
  • for chronic conditions, place 3 drops of elixir into a 30ml dropper bottle and fill with spring or filtered water. Take 5 drops 4 times a day for several weeks
  • 12-20 drops added to your bathwater
  • as a rescue remedy place 5-7 drops under the tongue, hold for 20 seconds before swallowing.

Recommended books

A useful book to match symptoms to crystals is ‘Crystal Prescriptions’ by Judy Hall. ‘The Crystal Bible’, also by Judy Hall is a great book to check for the uses of common crystals and also states if the crystal is toxic.

Important

Crystal remedies should not be seen as a substitute for conventional medicines. Always seek medical advice for any health concerns. Always research any crystals thoroughly before using them, for their uses and mineral composition. Always ensure crystals used are non-toxic and non-porous. If in doubt, always prepare essences using the indirect method.

Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is a translucent pink variety of quartz, which is easily obtainable in both its natural and polished forms. As the stone of unconditional love and infinite peace, it is also known by a number of names including ‘the stone of unconditional love’, ‘the heart stone’ and ‘the stone of reconciliation’.

Natural rose quartz

Legend and history

Greek myth tells how Adonis, the mortal lover of Aphrodite, was attacked by a boar. As she rushed to save him, Aphrodite was caught on a thorn bush. As the lovers’ blood mingled, it coloured the white quartz pink, and the stone became a symbol of love. Scientifically, it is thought that the pink colouration is due to trace amounts of titanium, iron or manganese, other thoughts are that the colouration is due to microscopic fibres within the stone.

Quartz crystals were thought to be used by ancient civilizations as powerful talismans and used in in their healing potions. The ancient Egyptians believed rose quartz could clear the complexion and prevent wrinkles and ageing, masks of the crystal have even been found in the Egyptian tombs.

The stone of love

Quartz crystals are well known for their ability to amplify energy, and rose quartz amplifies feelings of love, compassion, empathy, acceptance and forgiveness both towards ones self and others. It encourages self love, self trust and self worth. Rose quartz is also known for its aphrodisiac properties – it can raise sensuality, and as such is an excellent stone for romantic relationships, be it attracting, igniting or rekindling. In existing relationships it helps to restore unconditional love, trust and harmony.

The energy of rose quartz resonates with the heart chakra and higher heart chakra, opening the heart and bringing compassion, self love and deep inner healing.

polished rose quartz

Easing the emotions

Rose quartz lowers emotional stress and tensions, helping to dispel negative emotions and feelings of anger, jealousy, and resentment. These tensions can cause dis-ease if not addressed. The calming and reassuring effects of rose quartz also make it a wonderful crystal for use in times of grief, crisis and trauma.

Although rose quartz is thought of as a gentle stone, it has the power to delve deep into the subconscious mind to deal with suppressed negative feelings, emotions, pain and memories. We may not be aware of these in the conscious mind and they may even manifest physically or emotionally as something else. Releasing them may be painful, but all for our highest good with the peace of mind that follows. Placing rose quartz under your pillow may allow these feelings to come to us in our dreams ready for us to consciously deal with them. If the process becomes too uncomfortable seeking professional medical help such as counselling would be advisable.

Amethyst

What is amethyst?

Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz and comes in a range of shades from lavender to deep purple.

Its name comes from the greek ‘ἀ’ meaning ‘not’ and ‘méthystos’ meaning ‘intoxicated’, as in Roman times it was believed that this stone protected its owner from drunkenness. Throughout the ages it has been a highly prized stone, known for its powers to soothe the mind and emotions.
